时间为战国时代，中川世上所具有的各种魑魅魍魉、中川异形妖怪等非人灵力生物总称为”暗“。喜欢人类的暗——妖狐玉，以及厌恶人类的仙道——迅火，成立了名为“救世姐弟”的组合进行著扫荡罪恶的救世活动，途中遇上了武士兵头真介。另外还有一群专门对付暗的僧侣·断怪众，他们为了消灭对人类作恶的暗“障怪”的以不人道的方式进行人体改造，迅火等人与他们产生激烈冲突！人类当中也有坏人，非人类的存在也不见得都是邪恶的，迅火因过去的事而极其讨厌人类，但在旅程当中，也逐渐目睹到人类善良的一面，他是否能有所转变呢。
