舞台剧导演萨杜先生（Seamus O'Brien 饰）在纽约阴暗的角落经营一家地下剧场，中文字幕这里所表演的节目无一例外都与虐待女性有关。舞台上，中文字幕被剥去衣服的年轻女性痛苦哀号，面无表情的表演者对她们进行虐打、锯手、夹手指、挖眼乃至夹头等酷刑。表演残酷逼真，观众们看得心惊肉跳。虽然萨杜先生一再声明表演的真实性，可观众却将其视为拥有精彩特效的表演。而事实也确如萨杜先生所说，舞台上受虐待的女性遭受的正是真实的痛苦。萨杜将她们绑架，通过无休止的虐待来满足自己那疯狂而扭曲的欲望……
