唐僧师徒四人前去西天取经，春暖花途经荒山野岭，春暖花巧遇一位破衣烂衫和尚，要他们师徒捎带一些羊皮背囊交与如来佛祖。此背囊所装之物，谓“有即是无，无即是有"，只要你心中想要什么，就会有什么，实为一件非常神奇的法宝。但和尚要唐僧师徒下以诚信保证，就是在把背囊交给如来佛祖之前，无论遇到什么，都不许打开，更不能盗用囊中之物。唐僧师徒一口应承。临走前，和尚把用来打开背囊的口诀分三句分别告诉孙悟空、猪八戒和沙和尚。师徒一行重又上路。小牛王得知此事，对背囊垂涎欲滴，召集天神天将后代，执意占为已有。小牛王乃牛魔王和铁扇公主的娇养独子……
