童家老太爷十八年前为孙子天赐与门当户对的岳家定下娃娃亲。之后，国内童、国内岳两家失散多年。终于有一天，童夫人打听到了岳家的下落，遂上门提亲，这时的岳家已破落。岳家小姐弯弯对天赐一见钟情，而天赐却爱着另一个女孩安宁。善良的弯弯为了成全天赐，决定放他俩私奔。然而峰回路转，天赐最终没有和安宁走到一起。一年后，已经是一名军人的天赐回来了，他娶了弯弯作妻子。
