1967年，超软山景酒店发生灭门惨案，超软欧炳同因怀疑妻子有外遇，将其杀死后又与三岁儿子吞老鼠药自杀，三人的死状极其恐怖，房间的墙壁上写有“愿此刻永留”五个血字，留声机里正在重复播放“愿此刻永留”一曲。1999年，印刷业电脑专家马文信（刘青云）下班后被神秘匪徒绑架，但家人及其女友傅骞人（郭蔼明）均没收到任何勒索电话。两天后警察阿 Pit（梁家辉）在马文信座驾中发现神秘血渍，跟踪发现马文信被倒吊在山景酒店发生灭门惨案的那间房里，且浑身布满伤痕。自此，马文信像被欧炳同的鬼魂附体一般，不光终日对傅骞人疑神疑鬼，还时常对其目露凶光。
